Hsiaopei Lee, Jackie McIlwain, and Galit Kaunitz performed a program for viola, clarinet, and oboe at the USM Viola Festival. Repertoire included works by Michael Kimber, Randall Thompson, and Alvin Etler.

To benefit the Eagle’s Nest Food Pantry on USM’s campus, Dr. Kaunitz organized and performed on a collage-style concert featuring students and faculty. Donations of non-perishable food items and school supplies were accepted at the door.

Galit Kaunitz performed Simon Sargon’s Homage to Hafiz, Saint-Saëns’s Sonata for oboe and piano, and Hans Gál’s Sonata for oboe and piano. Galit gave a master class for the CMU oboe studio, and was hosted by Dr. Linda Beth Binkley.

Galit Kaunitz and Ellen Elder performed Simon Sargon’s Homage to Hafiz, Pavel Haas’s Suite for oboe and piano, and Hans Gál’s Sonata for oboe and piano. Galit gave a master class for the Arkansas State oboe studio, and was hosted by Dr. Kristin Leitterman.

Feeling Back: A Lecture and Recital with Ed Hafer, Galit Kaunitz, and Ellen Elder. Ed Hafer, musicologist, gave a short lecture on the historical significance of Pavel Haas’s Suite for oboe and piano and Hans Gál’s Sonata for oboe and piano. Both composers were affected by anti-Semitic Nazi policies of WWII, though in very different ways. This recital offers important context of these composers and their works.
